Welcome to Mrs. Kirkpatrick's Second Grade Classroom!
Welcome to Room 21! Your child will be spending a good part of their day here at Richardson Elementary. I feel privileged to be working with your child this year, and I would like to familiarize your family with the everyday workings of our classroom.
Behavior Management and Guidance: Our classroom follows the school wide behavior plan. Richardson students are expected to ROAR by being Respectful, On Target, Always Safe, and Responsible. Please see our school handbook for further details.
School Supplies: A school supply list was sent out to all second grade students in their report card envelopes last year. If you are in need of a new one, please pick one up on Open House night. Each item is important for your child's organization in the classroom. Please send items in as soon as possible! If your child becomes low on supplies, a letter will be sent home with marking which allow your to see which supplies your child is missing. Please send in supplies as soon as possible as we use them every day! It is a good idea to pick up extra supplies in the beginning of the year while they are in sale, if at all possible.

Birthday and Classroom Party InformationBirthday Invitations: According to our school's policy, unless your child has an invitation for every student in the class, your child may not hand out invitation in the classroom.
Birthday Celebrations: Bringing in a small favor is voluntary. Birthdays may be celebrated with a non-food item such as party favors like rings, pencils, small toys, etc. Sometimes families have purchased an item for the classroom such a game for indoor recess or a book for the classroom library. Classroom Parties: All holiday classroom parties are planned, organized, and executed by the head room parent. Room parent sign-up was held during Open House. In order to attend the parties, you must have previously signed up and have been in contact with our head room parent. Walk-ins are not permitted and there is a limit to how many adults may be in the classroom per party. Please check with the PTA to find out who our head room parent is. |
Medical Issues:Please alert the school and myself as soon as possible about they food allergies (especially severe ones) and/or other medical conditions that your child experiences.
If something new arises during the school year, an e-mail or a note is much appreciated! (Example: Extreme seasonal allergies, a fall at the park over the weekend, etc.) Please remember to update your emergency medical form if necessary. Recess and Gym Class:
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Ohio's weather can be quite temperamental! Your child should have tennis shoes for both recess and gym. For your child's safety, children will not be permitted to run in gym class or play on playground equipment if they do not have on the proper shoes. Personal toys (cards, action figures, stuffed animals, etc.) are not permitted into the building. |
